Vinculum, the annual day celebrations of VGSoM, is a unique initiative in which the whole VGSOM family comes together to celebrate the spirit of collaboration and the essence of being a VGSoMite.
Vinculum’ 12 kick-started with the inauguration ceremony, on the evening of 2nd March, 2012 followed by a series of wonderful cultural programs by the students of VGSoM. The next morning, an open IIT marathon in which enthusiastic participation from the faculty members including the erstwhile dean of VGSoM, Prof. Arabinda Tripathy along with the cheerful students comprising of undergraduates, postgraduates and research scholars, was held in the campus. The 50 finishers of this event grabbed free Vinculum T-shirts while top 3 finishers grabbed medals & certificates. Faculty participation too was adored and appreciated by awarding them with separate medals. This was followed by a Treasure Hunt for the VGSOM students which saw deluging participation. Later in the day, a first of its kind Inter Departmental Quiz at IIT kharagpur was conducted that saw participation from more than 20 departments to take away the grandmaster trophy to their department. These departments, in teams of two, battled it out in a tough quiz overseen by the famous quizmaster Titash Banerjea. The Department of ‘Electronics and Electrical Communication’ emerged victorious and they are the custodians of the grand rolling trophy, something that, arguably, happened for the first time in IIT. The quiz was soon followed by a Guest Lecture by the much celebrated Dabbawallas from Mumbai, Mr Subodh Bhausaheb Sangle and Mr Puneet Satyanarayan Bhatnagar. They enthralled the rapturous audience with their organisations’ incredible delivery system which accomplished Six Sigma levels even without the implementation of any statistical methods. Finally, the annual day celebrations culminated with a departmental dinner at VGSoM premises.
