Saamanjasya , a social fest aimed at building and encouraging a corporate-NGO-academic relationship was held on the 22nd and 23rd of October, 2011. Students from leading management and law schools across India such as IIM – Rohtak, Shillong, Indore, Nitie-Mumbai, Tapmi-Manipal and IIFM-Bhopal participated in the fest.
The event was aimed at tackling social issues. For the promotion of the skills and techniques of the local artisans, an exhibition on the campus, in association with the Ministry of textiles was held, with some of the crafts being selected for export to countries such as Sweden.
The curtain raiser on the 11th of October marked the beginning of a number of competitions such as Parishram, Samvit(an online quiz),Kalakaar Vikaas(workshops on micro-finance and the textile industry with respect to the kalakaars) and Samaaj. Parishram comprised of a live case study competition with regard to various social issues being faced by NGOs across the country was turned out to be a great success and the top three entries are going to be implemented and its success will be provided as feedback. Samaaj, on similar lines, focused on corporate case-studies. The Master of Human Resource Management (MHRM) along with the Rajiv Gandhi School of Intellectual Property Law held Shaastraarth, a debating event.
The total prize money for the events stood at 1.5 lakh. The winners of Samaaj were awarded a summer internship with Ernst and Young. IIM Rohtak and IIM Shillong took home a good share of the prizes.
Other events included Vichaar , a leadership summit where the retail sector was the main focus and Shikshan, where workshops were handled by retail giants such as Jaipur Rugs. All in all, the fest, the first of its kind held by our institute, turned out to be a grand success.
MADison Avenue, the annual flagship Marketing event of VGSOM was organized by the MAD Club (Marketing and Advertising Club of VGSOM). This event was supported by a number of corporate-houses like Toyota, SAIL, Steris, MTSSpykar, Business Standard, Airtel, Chronon Technologies, Woodland, naukri.com, Tata Bearings, JWT, Travels4u, pagalguy.com, and Dare2compete.
MADison Avenue ‘11 was conducted on 29-30th of October 2011 with a plethora of different competitions, guest-lectures (GL), workshops and panel-discussions open for all the B-school students across the country. There was an innovative blend of eight sub-events namely: Quizzard, AdZap, Leaders Challenge, El Vigor, Quizzical, Wiral Marketing, Blind Date (Ad-Mire) and Mobile Turns Social. The event was conducted over a period of 2 days and had seen the presence of more than 25 premiere B-schools from all over the country and has been graced by the presence of the who’s-who of the top ad-firms, academia and corporate India.
